The Digital Supply Chain Company

Expert Insights- The Industrial Internet of Things

Last month, SDI’s CEO, Chris Moore, sent out a one question survey in a series we’re calling Expert Insights.  The question: When will the Internet of Things fundamentally change the way you operate your business or sell to customers? 44% of our respondents answered that it already has.

What seemed like just an idea only a few years ago, the internet of things has quickly become a reality for industrial companies. Companies are seeing tangible benefits because of the digital transformation. And while digital transformation is indeed a reality, it’s still not clear to most companies how to build it into their strategies.

This is what is referred to as the digital gap – the difference between knowing what is possible and knowing the practical and pragmatic steps to get there. Research has shown that while 85% of companies see digital transformation as critical to the future success of their companies, only 13% of executives say they have a strategy in place.

In this short video, Chris Moore talks about the fundamental shift in current leadership structures, operating processes and information flows that will be required to transform organizations and help the industrial company of the future leverage the ecosystem of machines, people, software and supply chains that are driving better business outcomes.
