For three days in February, thousands of developers, innovators and tech users descended upon Las Vegas for the 2016 IBM InterConnect conference. Attendees workshopped in sessions focused on outthinking limits and transforming their businesses. They heard the inspiring story of Simon Wheatcroft, a blind runner whose life has been transformed by the power of the cloud and the Runkeeper app. They learned how at-risk teens are taking control of their lives and designing serious games with Watson and Bluemix. To accompany these inspiring stories, demos highlighting new technology were held, including using the Force and Bluemix to move a BB8 Droid with their minds.
Cloud and Mobile Apps in MRO Supply Chain
Attendees also learned how SDI was the first to develop a true end-to-end platform for Maintenance, Repair and Operations (MRO) by taking into consideration how MRO impacts the rest of the supply chain and the enterprise.
SDI’s Web Services Manager, Michael Randall, and Mobile Developer, Christina Rose, showed users how by using Xamarin and IBM’s MobileFirst as the foundation for its platform, SDI has linked the cloud-based technology and mobile applications with the people and processes to help manufacturers and other asset-intensive facilities manage their MRO supply chain like a direct supply chain. This lowers costs and increases performance as a result of a more connected platform.
This Mobile session, part of the Core Curriculum on building mobile apps and infrastructure, took the audience through the SDiMobile Cycle Count app as well as the SDiMobile Ordering app. They went through the development timeline and the lessons learned in deployment.
