SDI Hosts Round Table Discussion at ProcureCon for Manufacturing

06/30/2014

Bristol, PA — SDI, the leading provider of MRO integrated supply chain management services in North America, recently participated in ProcureCon for Manufacturing in Milwaukee. The C-level event tackles the unique issues procurement and supply chain executives face in the manufacturing industry. SDI’s Vice President of Strategic Sourcing, Chris Shaffer, lead an intimate, hands-on round table discussion that helped executives work through the growing complexities that manufacturing professionals face each day and how traditional methods of managing MRO are being challenged.

To support continued efforts to meet the changing needs of the industry, SDI met with over 20 senior-level procurement and supply chain executives from Fortune 100 companies for a candid discussion on how Business Process Outsourcing has evolved into an efficient solution to the challenges posed by evolving trends in manufacturing that have effected MRO supply chain management. The company came away with a clearer understanding of how procurement professionals are being asked to expand their scope of responsibility and deliver increasing value in all areas of spend—including atypical areas like regulatory compliance, legal, finance and risk management—with fewer resources to do so. This now includes parts of the tail-end spend that are traditionally more complex and under-managed, making it difficult to deliver results. As such, procurement professionals look to Business Process Outsourcing as a model to augment their teams and drive excellence in the MRO space.

“This year’s ProcureCon event was a fantastic opportunity to collaborate with Senior Level Procurement professionals,” said Chris Shaffer. “The best practice sharing generated some breakthrough ideas in a variety of areas. We were thrilled to share how a comprehensive MRO service solution is the key to unlocking true value and tackling inefficiencies.”

The round table, and subsequent findings, was supported by the release of the recent whitepaper, “Unlocking the Hidden Value of Enterprise MRO,” which addresses the common challenges facing all MRO managers, providing a historical context and outlining political and economic factors effecting manufacturing today. The growing trend is towards a more holistic approach to MRO supply chain management.

As part of the company’s commitment to delivering continual value to their clients, SDI has built regular events and collaborations, like this round table discussion, into their business strategy. As innovative leaders in the industry, the company continues to incorporate feedback into their quality business model, helping their clients achieve best-in-class status.
